Old ones need lovin too..
Hello Everyone,
First off, if this is in violation of any forum rules, I am unaware and ask that a mod delete it if it is.
On 11/15/2014, my cousin, Mike Long, was beaten by two men with a shovel and a crowbar and left in the snow for dead. Around 4:30 am, a passerby found him and called 911. At this time, he was not breathing, had no pulse and his core temperature had dropped so low that it would not register on a medical thermometer. Paramedics performed CPR and rushed him to Allegan General Hospital. Doctors fought for three hours to bring his core temperature up, restore breathing and a pulse.
Miraculously, the doctors were able to revive him. He was then helicoptered to Bronson. Doctors continued to fight to save his life. Mike continued to fight for his life and even awoke for awhile. His kidneys, lungs, pancreas and heart were so damaged from the cold and brutal assault, that doctors kept him alive with machines, sedation, and medication. It appeared he might recover with no brain damage. HOPE was at an all time high.
However, late Sunday night, 11-16-2014 he turned kept looking and searching, with tears in his eyes, for my mother. He found her in the chair next to his bed, where she had never left his side. Moments later, he became unresponsive. At 3pm on 11-17-2014, doctors pronounced Mike Long deceased.
Anyone, who knew Mike, knew his fullness for life. A life of only 24 years that was cut short, way to early. My family will miss him and never forget him. However, my family is not financially well off, yet my mother would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need. When the chips are down, my family is there to lend a hand and help in anyway possible. Now for us, the chips are down....We have no way of providing a funeral for my cousin, no way of paying his medical expenses.
A simple burial is going to cost $5000. We have no way of paying for this expense and could really use a helping hand to provide closure during this difficult time. We will make due with less. Please donate if you can (the link is at the bottom of the page), every little bit helps, but PLEASE, PLEASE do not donate if it will burden you or cause you or your family financial difficulty.
