Painting Advice
Hmmmmm----Lots of variables. I think I would mix up all the color at one time, a pint and a half should do it. Without knowing what paint you are using and what temperature you are painting at this is just a guess! When I painted my engine bay (3 times to get it right) using PPG Concept I put the first coat on as a tack coat. Wait about 10 minutes then paint it again with a heavier coat. The gun will be fine between. After another 10 minute wait I put the final coat on until all the paint in the gun was gone. Then i cleaned the gun and called it good, i did not clear my engine bay. When I painted my car, I painted three coats of color then switched to 50/50 color/clear and gave it three more coats of the color/clear mix. Again, it was 70 degrees with no humidity and the PPG Concept is amenable to mixing the clear in the color for the finish coats. This process is documented on my build thread. This is just my experience and may or may not be of any value to you. Good luck though, you should be very happy with the results. Post up some photos after the color is on!
