Unless you're trying for a 100 point car, the most cost effective, and best use of time, is to replace the element and socket. Parts can be found in the "HELP!" section of most big box parts stores. It is pretty much a generic fixture, but make sure you don't get one for an import. Some of the earlier imported cars had a cigarette lighter that was a little smaller in diameter than the domestics use.
