I read a recent thread about windshield installation but I have a few questions. Is this the steps to take? One put the sealant around the metal window groove-two install the gasket onto the car- three put the same sealant or is it something different in the glass groove and last install the glass into the gasket and then the bead lock. This is on a 63 valiant. If my steps are incorrect please correct me. I was told to put the gasket onto the glass then install gasket and glass as one assembly? Thanks

Personally I think it's WAY easier to put the glass in after the seal goes on, especially with a lock strip style seal.

75 duster, but I think all lockstrip installs should be similar... I used 3 different sealers; butyl from caulk tube(NAPA) in lower shelf, 1/4" rope caulk seal in the outside of the gasket. Install gasket on metal. Set glass into bottom. Use plastic tools to work the lip of the gasket around the glass while 'encouraging' the glass to seat by smacking it with palms. When completely in - run a small amount of Windoweld (caulk tube)under the edge of the gasket. Put the lockstrip in. Clean up squeeze out. Scrape up what you can and finish with mineral spirits or laquer thinner.
Everything must be warm! Cold gasket=bad day. LOL
