Any idea what was mounted in the hole down and left of the flasher switch mounting hole? Any cracks?
Are the pins on the circuit boards all there and tight?
 
The circuit board has all of the pins,bezel is free of cracks,no I do not know what was mounted in the hole.
 
That's a different hole. The trip setting is to the left of the speedometer, my 68 has that too. This bezel has an extra hole drilled by the flasher switch in the black part of the bezel. You can see it better on the pic from the back side. Maybe a clock adjuster cable?
