Another Mopar Off My Bucket List - Barracuda Fastback
Our two cars have got a lot of similarities so I'm keeping an eye on your build. I can't recall seeing any other fastback besides the two of ours painted this color. I am anxious to see if there are additions to yours that will make me go back and make changes on mine.
My build is a tight budget one as well.
I am going with the original 273 and 727 auto trans and the 8 3/4 rear diff.
I changed the column shift to a floor shift. My center console is a piece of junk but I'm going to try and make it work. The engine is totally rebuilt, but with a 340 crank.
It's not the best idea I had in keeping the 273 as the cost was crazy. I could have built three 318's or 360's for the same cost. Oh well. it's all numbers matching though.
I hope I'll be able to show a few things different with this build when done, but I doubt it.
This project was originally planned as a senior project for my sons graduation and evolved into a lot more. we enjoy working on it and learning together as we go, but he has decided to go a different route for his senior project. Guess what that means? you guessed it, all mine now.
Only issue now is we restored the car to mostly stock and now it's so far down the road with the build that I'd be afraid to go back and change a few things.
Maybe on the next one i'll get my way. All in all i'm only into the car money wise, not my labor, about $8,500 including the purchase of the car.
We'll have to stay in touch to compare them when i'm done. So far, I'd say your car is further down the strip than mine. faster too. L.O.L!!!
