I really enjoy this show. As others have said, zero unnecessary drama, part of why I like it.
But the main reason I like it is because the guy is really creative and talented. He can look at something and visualize how it should be. He is really good at using stuff that's sitting around and available to do what he wants to achieve, instead of buying a lot of stuff.
He has good fabrication skills too. Some of his shop equipment looks homemade. The trial and error routine that he used to figure out how to form the bubbletop showed those skills, problem solving one step at a time until you get what you want.
The builds he did in the first season where a really interesting mix of totally different projects. So far the second has been as well.
