A904 Lock Up 2-3 Shift Issue
Ahh, I haven't been into a lockup 904. Didn't realize that's how they were designed. Back in my early days of doing transmissions I used 2 sets of c-clamps to compress the retainer. Only thing is you gotta be careful you don't distort it, or pinch the crap out of your fingers if one of the clamps slips off. Do you know of a transmission shop near you? If so you can probably take it to them and have them press it apart and back together. Most places don't charge much for doing something simple like that. Make sure you get the end play tightened up real good so things aren't slamming back and forth. The factory serv. manual is real sloppy on specs. I like to see them with no more than .025" end play and if you can get it down to .015 that's even better
