Laptop Dying! suggestions?

Hey there, I do this and a bunch of other stuff for a living. Your problem sounds ominous. The short answer for you, and how you use a computer, is to quickly discern the issue, prove its bad, then move on to a new laptop. IPads are great, I'm on one one now, but it's also one of like 4 computers I use. You know the deal, no USB port, etc. there really just for surfing the web, I've had hit and miss even streaming a movie.

Is your current laptop truly dead? Probably. Google the make and model, and how to run a diagnostic test, all laptop manf. Have those tests built in. It'll probably confirm your fears. I will say that I'm not a fan of replacing a perfectly fine computer just due to age though.

The next step is to decide what your budget is. Then go down to Best Buy and others and play with all the new laptops. dO NOT go to Wal-mart!! There not the same laptops inside and will die quickly. Anywhere else, If you fall in love, and it's in your budget, pull the trigger. Beware though, all that Geek Squad **** is bogus and they really just fill your computer with additional software that actually slows and perpetuates issues. So when they pressure you to buy their "protection," tell them to go dig a ditch.

Another option is if your in a big city, find a mom and pop computer store that sells new and used laptops. Believe it or not, their used selection is some of the best deals around. They were probably top of the line computers when new, and certainly worth their time to rebuild for resale. Make sure they offer a warranty. And more times then not, you can talk them down and get a screaming deal.

PM me the specifics and price of any laptop your considering, and I'll tell you whether if it's a rip off or not, if you want a second opinion for that matter. good Luck.
