Stop in for a cup of coffee

We were able to get to do some work on the kids Valiant. I took the gas tank and tube out to see WTF is going on....

With the tank and tube out of the car, I can't get the tube into the tank... Too much interference with the grommet...

So I took the grommet out of the tank and tried to put it on the bare tube, and it didn't want to go...

I asked/"challenged" one of the kid's 22 year old male friends to get the bare grommet on the tube, and he was able to do it after fighting it for a minute...

So I'm thinking that the grommet has too much interference....

The filler tube is running near 2.000" +/- .006", and the grommet inner diameter installed in the tank is running near 1.875" +/- .010"

I think that .125" is kind of too much interference. I will have to call Mancini Racing to discuss their filler tube grommet/seal with them.

However we did get the rear brakes off and replaced the parking brake cables with the proper set now.... Now to get the rest of the cables installed and hooked up....

Then see if I can get a hold of the body guy and see if he can finish the Challenger conv't paint...
