HDK Down Under

Hey guys thanks for the kind words.

The car is a 1971 VH 770 Charger....our version of your 70-71 RT/SE - kind of a luxo pack (if ya call vinyl trim etc luxe lol)

This was my first car which I bought at 16 in 1981 - so its a sentimental deal for me as well and a project that was long overdue. Lots of awesome memories with this car ;)

So after stripping her down to her undies :D and putting her on a rotisserie - I went to work; frame tied, NOS front fenders, new door skins, new trunk floor, straightening her out and now finally painted. Everything going back on her is new, i.e.: glass, rubbers, seals, lenses, gaskets, SS, aluminium, chrome, etc ....

The plan is for a street strip ride that is more street than strip. Having said that - street ability is very important so the focus has been on making the compromises necessary where needed. No doubt as I move forward it'll become more street based than anything so a cam change may be in order.

Engine: Mopar siamese block, 11:1 pump setup for our pump gas, Bullet roller cam, Insy Red Zone extreme rollers, Indy Heads, Stage V rollers, Bryant crank, Saenz rods, Diamond pistons, Charlies pan,Indy or Barton intake, MSD dist/crank trigger, Pro systems 4500 carb - may go EFI later on.

Trans is a Chuck Lofgren built unit with Griner TB/VB, steel drum and all the good bits. Lenny @ Ultimate Convertors supplied the convertor, also have a blanket. I may add a GV later on or a 4L80E and retain the 4.10s in the Dana.

HDK front end with QA1 coil overs and rack, Wilwood discs/calipers and hydroboost setup under the dash.

The Dana runs a 35 spline Detroit locker, main studs, alum girdle cover with 35 spline hy tuff axles and full floater hubs with disc brakes. Chrome moly 4 link with Spohn bar ends and Afco coil overs.

Exhaust will be 3.5" oval tubing from the headers, into the crossover, some long 3.5" resonators and once over the rear dropping to 3" when the gases have cooled. Rear muffs are 22" case SS Magnaflows....I need all the help I can to shut er up on the street ;)

Looking to get her home this week then assembly/wiring then tune etc.

Ive attached some random pics from the project - there a re heaps lol.

Wish me luck :)

Whilst I have been playing with cars for over 30 years and have dealt with many businesses in that time, Denny has just been simply AWESOME to work with both in the quality of the product and his communication/customer service. Just SECOND TO NONE !!

Thanks mate !
