I knew a guy once upon a time that drove an F100 with a straight six, three-on-the-tree. His 1/4 ET average was 19.03.
He also WON every heat he ran because he could dial in an ET between 19.01 and 19.05 consistently, every time he ran. He'd get a huge head start from the tree, and when the other car got his light, would almost always panic and jump the light or blow their bracket trying to catch up. It was comical to watch!
He knew his old truck, and knew how to run it.
