6.2 hellcat crate motor
(Joe Dokes) You forgot the "cool" factor. :)
I've owned all of the Mopar muscle car engines (except a GenII Hemi) in my life time and always loved the 340 and 440 best. The ultimate 340 for me was in my '68 Formula S Barracuda (all stock) with a 4 speed and 3:91 limited slip rear. That car was a real freak runner with it's special, one year only cam that only came in the 4 speed cars. I beat on it a lot and ran the 1/4 to a best of 13.89 with F70 polyglass tires. It was traction challenged at the strip, but on the street I never lost a race because we always raced from a roll and that little car surprised many 350, 396 and one 427 Chevy.
As much as I was always impressed with that car, my 5.7 Challenger R/T would have run rings around it in all respects. It currently does not have limited slip (the Getrag is waiting for my time to install it) and is also stock, but it will run 13.40s -13.50s all day long. It is also traction challenged, but it also weighs about 1,000 lbs. more than that little Cuda. As much as I always loved the old school wedge engines, I'll take these new Hemis over them any day of the week. I can't wait to get my '69 Cuda running with the BES Racing 392. I just hope I can drive the dang thing, as I'm quite a bit older these days...
