Yeah, the engine is up because of the tubular suspension design. There wasn't any good way to drop the engine. The engine was set with the driveshaft angle at 3 degrees , but that made for a goodly sized tunnel, it's offset about an inch. Here are some pictures of the mods. Last picture is the wiper mount, it looks a lot like yours.
