Im having an issue with an off idle chirping noise, almost like the flexplate/converter bolts are loose....but they are in fact tight. It does it in any gear as well. Engine has oil in the pan and its getting to the rockers. Pulls 15" of vacuum. The noise is still there with the alt/water pump belt removed. Crank pulley bolts are tight. Recently installed headers...funky exhaust leak? funky vacuum leak? Dead front pump in the trans? no knocking just chirping.

Vac leaks around the carb and intake can make chirping noises.
Shoot a little starting fluid or brake cleaner around the carb base and it will change the sound and the idle both if you run across the leak.

If it did not chirp before the headers, but started chirping after the headers were installed, that is where I'd start.

Bearings are so inexpensive, why not replace when you had it tore down? JMO MT

I've heard 4 types of "chirps" from vehicles,, belts, dry u-joint, (but vehicles has to be moving), a flex plate with a crack between the crank bolt holes,, and worst, a rod bearing just before the chirp changes to a squeel,, then to a knock..

Can you post a vid..??

Did you re-seat the header bolts after warming it up. They tend to work loose sometimes.

#2rod ,first it chirps, then it kinda squeals, then if it spins in the rod at idle, the engine stalls.Happened to me.The second tim I heard it, I knew what it was. Both times I was able to polish the crank and saved it. Your results may vary.
I have reused my bearings several times, dont sweat it.Mine were awesome looking too and speced out right on.They now have over 100,000 miles on them since then.
