Stop in for a cup of coffee
I think about my grandfathers I never met and give this day to them bro :glasses7:
Raising one high to all that gave the ultimat price to keep us safe and give us this day to enjoy our liberties, I stand for justice David, I hope everyone put's away at least two hours of this day to remember and not take this day for granted :color: Oop's Good morning :coffee2:
Good point, I should go to the cemetary today and visit mom, dad, grandma, and grandpa. Dad and grandpa were Navy guys... :prayer:
Dad was officer in charge of damage control on a Fletcher class Destroyer. If they got hit, it was his job to put out the fire and "keep the tin can floating"... :violent1:
I'm not sure what grandpa did. I didn't know him that well as he died Christmas day when I was 8 years old, and I can't remember much of him as I was so young. I do know from others who knew him, that he was very tough and you didn't dare mess with him. My aunt said that her and dad didn't dare misbehave in the car, as he could reach around and smack them in the back seat without even taking his eyes off the road... He was very strict.
I went to a dentist once that knew him. He asked if I knew my grandpa much, and I said that I did know him, but I wish I had known him better as I was so young when he died. The dentist just shook his head from side to side and said, "He was a tough son of a *****"... But didn't tell me any more... It would have been nice to hear some stories to back that up... :banghead:
Grandma told me a good story once. When I was a kid (about 5 or 7), I baked a cake for grandpa's birthday. She said that it really touched him and brought a tear to his eye. (grandpa was tough and NEVER cried) You can't buy the love of your grandson baking a cake for your birthday. It made me feel glad that I did that... :D
