Stolen: 1965 Dodge Dart GT blue S.Oregon area
Wow, sort of a happy ending, at least they didnt beat the body up. I hate when people disrespect other peoples property. Sorry bout his loss at least it wasnt worse like finding a burned out shell.
I know this may be closing the gate after the horse ran away, but what about wiring in an ignition kill switch?
Its easy to do, and lots of neat spots to hide one.
My 69 charger R/T i used to have had one hidden in a gutted cigarette lighter housing. It was a push in turn on, push in turn off type. I think i got it at radio shack. I wired it into my ignition hot wire to the coil. The cool thing about it was i was able to keep the lighter in the socket to hide it. I also used to pop the dist cap, and put the rotor in my pocket whenever i had to park it somewhere.
You can even splice it into the balllast resistor wiring too.
If you do wire one up, i recommend wrapping the wires in the stock harness, running them thru the stock bulkhead connectors with some packard GM 56 terminals so it looks factory.
Thieves are thieves because they are dumb, but if they can hot wire a car they can spot non stock wiring hanging under a dash, and follow it to a hidden switch. This is why i recommend hiding it in the stock harness.
