How much weight can I put on a car rotisserie?

-
Really, those plans are free now? When I got my set he was selling them for $12, still a hell of a bargain. This is the same rotisserie that I built. FYI, the tubing spec'd for the pivot points on the end frames did not telescope like intended. I forget which one I resized (inner, I think), but it worked fine. You can see the finished unit on my build thread. I would feel safe putting a car the size of an a-body on it with an engine. That thing is a beast. L8r

I made my Rotisserie from 75 x 75 x 5 RHS, that slips inside 89 x 89 x 5.
It is height adjustable, and balance adjustable. The hard part is making it balance, so it is easy to rotate the car.
I used 2 x 3,000 kg long ram jacks to raise and lower the body to a desired height.
I have a small gearbox to turn the body around.
It sure makes doing things easy, like welding, sanding, buffing, cleaning, etc.
Well worth it....you can see better what you are doing.

I just got done building that redwingsteel.com rotisserie. First victim will be my buddy's mustang, so if anything goes wrong, nothing important gets damaged. ;-)

That's one beefy unit if you follow the plans. I can see it holding the complete car, but I'm also guessing it's going to be a PITA to get balanced. Glad to see so many others have used that design. Makes me feel more confident in it.
