Raced my Scamp

I've raced my brothers Stock Eliminator 66 Barracuda at Brainerd about 5 years ago and had a blast. This past weekend my brother was there running his wifes car for fun. So I decided to drive my car up there and spend the weekend at the track. After seeing some of the other cars running I decided to run the Scamp in SE/3, 14.0 or slower cars. Knowing it was my ride back home, I was nervous.

My brother had some drag radials that he wanted me to use, but with the rear fender lip I couldnt fit them in. The car just wouldnt hook up at all, with the 7" wide street tires. I tried everything but no matter what I would almost always spin. Frustrating for sure!

I got 2 days of running the car and practicing my reaction times. Being it has been 5 years, I was slow or a bit jumpy and lighting the red. Sunday was a different story. I was nailing the reaction time. My best was a .003, my others where .094 and .072. Not bad for what I consider being a beginner again. My best run during the weekend was 14.237 @ 95.32 mph. Somehow I got it to hook up. LOL

Somehow I managed to make it to the 5th spot out of 19 cars. My last run, I was up against a 15.75 second car. I had the better reaction time, but I just couldnt beat him to the line because of the spinning, losing by .181. He ran a 15.798 and I ran a 15.113 on a 14.9 dial in.

Even my wife had a blast watching me run and she is for me doing it some more, just not so much with my driver.. Anyways, here are a couple of pics she took.
