Chime in with suggested cam spec's 408 build
It's my understanding that Comps RX lobe is not as hard on the valve train as some of the other lobes. The cam for my 434 has these lobes. My 408 was in the 550hp range with a flat solid, when I tore it down to freshen it I found odd main and cam bearing wear that I attribute to block flex. Hopefully the girdle will stiffen your block.
BTW I know a couple gm guys that tried hydraulic rollers, neither would rpm like they were supposed to so they went back to solid rollers.
