We run Kevko pans. Not the cheapest but great quality. Using the LA timing cover, you can take the "U" shaped gasket from the LA timing cover gasket set and cut the "U" off Magnum oil pan gasket and use some Rite Stuff where the gaskets meet. Always been leak free.

No, I have always used the magnum timing cover since I kept the serpentine setup on them all. The last pan I bought off ebay for $45 ?? and worked like a charm. Now I do have to use a liberal amount of rtv in the front corners but nothing outrageous. Haven't had a single issue. The last one I did even has an oil drain tube in the left front corner. I suppose its high enough not to be a problem.
