BillGrissom can you post a picture of the "dedicated lugs" for the main power wires that you mentioned? Sounds like just the fix for this long time problem for other years of Chrysler products...
I have several times. Search (from google is best). Can only work for 1964, not for later cars that had 3 connectors (I'm not sure about 1966). They can do similar by doing the "fleet bypass", which is much discussed here.
I am guessing they dropped the lugs in 1964 to save money or such, found they needed them so put back in 1965 (bulkhead hole is 1/8" taller). Then the budget weenies noticed the extra cost, saw most failures were after the warranty period so dropped them. That is why America is so successful, with all these CEO's and MBA's cutting costs and corners so everyone buys more stuff that fails faster, but I'm just speculating.
