Mexican Darts and Valiants

Chrysler Do Brazil manufactured the brazilian charger and dart in Sao Paulo Brazil. Approx 10,000 cars a year. The 318 V8 in these cars was cast and assembled in Brazil as well. They designed and made the specific grilles and pieces for their markets tastes as well.

The manufacturing facility was an old Simca factory, which is why the bolt pattern of brazilian dodges have a different bolt pattern than their american counterparts, and oddball 3 piston calipers. This was tooling left over when Simca vacated the factory.

Chrysler Do Brazil also contracted with GM of Brazil for the rear axles. I believe brazilian mopars use a GM 10 bolt rear end, made for their specifications.

These were produced up until 1980, when Chrysler backed out of the Brazilian market. Volkswagen AG purchased the assembly plant from Chrysler and proceded to manufacture 1 ton trucks there for the brazilian market. Incidentally Volkswagen continued to cast and assemble the mopar 318 for use in the 1 ton trucks they made there.

The factory has since been closed and torn down.
