Idea: Junkyard bling.

The thing most of the truck guys have found is that while single plane seems like it'd be bad for torque- the M1s are only gains over the Airgap EFIs and only gains over the stock intake. It'd be a place worth investing in. The EQ heads are worth using for a decent savings over the Edelbrocks with good performance gain if you're retaining the stock mild compression ratio, especially if you're going to upgrade the cam some.

The best way to do the swap is really a full donor. Complete with the computer, fusebox, and engine/trans harness along with OBD port will make it much simpler to the point where the biggest issue is your fuel pump/regulator and tying in the donor's 12v keyed to the car's. If you can be picky, a 3 speed van or manual truck would have the computer you need even. If you've got a 904 you could even upgrade to a 360 van's 727. (yes, vans had 3 speeds at least up to 1999 even though trucks dropped them in the early '90s- all Magnum trucks were offered with manuals)
