I've already learned a ton O information reading the older threads, muchos gracias! I'm not much of a picture taker but I have a few that I can get posted later and will try to take more pics than normal.

I'm the second owner, it has 117k original miles, 318 2v, automatic, I assume a 904, a 7-1/4 rear end, have no idea what gearing since I haven't driven it yet, assume it's likely a 3.08.

Not concerned with the body or interior at this point. It has the bench seat with arm rest and head rests, black and white checkering, needs to be recovered, everything else is black. Factory AC car.

The body (Gold) is in real fair shape, it has been in a minor accident and repaired but no rust, So Cal car local to me. It's been repainted once and the vinyl top was removed and roof painted, there's rust where the bondo fell out at the seam for the roof, mild surface rust.

The car was parked because it needs the heads rebuilt, it was parked 18 years ago, last tags are dated 98. It was driven about a year and a half ago and parked because of the heads.

I've spent the last week taking all the components off the engine and separating from the trans, one more bolt, I think and I'll be able to separate the two. Right next the dipstick for the trans and almost no clearance, got it moving but I gave up on it tonight.

It had a dual exhaust put on it that is junk when it was new, or half new, since they used part of the old single exhaust for one side, pipes crushed to half or less of what they could flow. I was going to hook that up to whatever headers I get for it, but it's junk.

The build:

From the top down.

600 cfm carb, maybe more, vacuum secondaries

I like the Weiand semi high rise dual plane.

I'm going to smooth out the ports a bit, clean em up for a bit of improvement and send em out to a local shop for rebuild. I think it's worth the money to have experts do the heads. Local place has a very good reputation.

Going to go with headers and complete system. I'm undecided on brand of headers, I've read enough unhappy customers to know I don't want to be one. Dougs is on the top of my list for now.

Will be putting in a new cam and valve springs, I can't remember the numbers off hand but something like 262 262 .477, very popular for a build like this.

I'll be running the stock distributor to save a bit on the build for the moment.

Not exactly a budget build but cost is a factor.

Some pics.
