Most likely they are lockup if that matters. They probably have the low gear sets and either a 4 (998) or 5 clutch (999) front drum but... the lockup stuff does not work with non-LU units, the parts don't match. The drum and input shaft are very different and the sealing rings are in different places.
Generally speaking, the only vehicles that had a 999 were 360 equipped. If either of those cars were 318, the units are probably 998s.
