Thoughts on this C/L find

I don't follow prices on B's but he sure didn't like posting external body photos, LOL

If the crappy paint doesn't bother you, and the drivetrain is really everything the seller say it is, he's probably still a couple grand high.

That said, if the drivetrain checks out it looks like it would make a nice driver. It's not super easy to find Mopars that would make good drivers and don't cost a fortune. Most of the time they're either fully restored and asking a mint, or total projects. Decently priced cars that need some work but will run down the road aren't everywhere. If the body is solid and the drivetrain seems to be what the seller says it is I'd probably offer 7k and see where it went. Just depends on what you're looking for. It's definitely no show car, but it sounds like it has some nice components.

I am so tired of "patina" just admit it, the paint looks like **** and you will need to spend at least $5000 to make it look good if you can't do body and paint. That's such a bullshit term, like "toxic assets," or "social disease." All these terms mean, "DON'T TOUCH because I'm a lying sack of whale crap."

Patina, barn find, grandmother, sleeper, etc...ugh. It does get tiring. But I love the body style and looks like a solid car. Ditto all 72bluNblu said. I wouldn't consider $7000 to be low ball on it. If it was near me and checked out I'd probably go even a little higher.

100% rust free, except for where we can see rust of course. ;)

Sorry but I really don't see much good in this car unless maybe the drive train ???????

in this case - patina seems to mean: too lazy to take care of the paint. 10.5 is a stretch $$ wise.. but, decent examples of these are getting harder to find. It has been modified so that is a negative if you want to restore it. Without seeing it and driving it it is really tough to put a # to it's value but, if you have to have the car - then it's worth what you'll pay for it.. remember, "we" always ask for more than we really want.. everybody dickers.

Here's what I do when trying to break down a cars value. This is just me but I find it helpful.

What is a solid roller Belvedere/Satellite body worth with good glass? $2500?
What is the drive train worth? $1000-$1500?
Anything special on it worth? Six Pack and air cleaner? $1500?

So I'm at $5500 more or less, if it was in parts and needed put together and needed brakes, fluids, gaskets and all kinds of little pieces that nickel and dime you to death.

What is bonus that it's all together and driving? to me maybe another $2000-3000 is worth it to me a driver over a pile of parts.

So yeah maybe around $8K I'd feel pretty good about it, barring any surprises of course

I probably should have been more clear in my post. I'm not looking to buy this car, I was just rolling through C/L vehicle adds and saw something interesting and thought I'd share with the group. Some good points have been brought up, for sure. I hate the Gas Monkey "Patina" BS and agree it's just a convenient way to say "I was too lazy, or cheap, to paint it". I'm no fan of the flat black "hotrod" look, either. Same thing IMO, but too each their own. crj1968 - I will be seriously looking in a few weeks for my next project and will use your price building suggestions. Thanks everyone!

Well, if that car was in the "rust belt" where I am, he wouldn't be too far off on that. Maybe in the south (rust free states), this isn't a bang for the buck, but I bet if the 440-6 pack runs good, that car would bring 8500.00 pretty easy here...... just say'n

One of my favorites body styles

If I were close would look at it

If Truely rust free, needing paint not a big deal, expensive to do, yes, rust free no major body work, worth it

440 6 pak, nice

Is it worth what he is asking , it says obo, so he knows someone is going to offer less unless it is just what they are looking for

Good luck to the guy, would like to see all the parts and condition, but here in Indiana it would be worth close to that in my opinion

The car is nice, but $10,500 is very steep for that car. From the pictures I don't see any major rust, though it may have it's share of minor surface rust in certain spots. He didn't get any pictures of the rear end of the car either which would be nice to see. The car could definitely use a new paint job for sure though.

As for the engine, you always have to keep in mind that the person who rebuilt it could of taken shortcuts. I would ask for engine receipts and ask other questions about the engine build. The "500 miles" on the motor is something you want to caution as well since you never know if they are telling the truth or not.

The interior looks alright, besides the fact it looks like he left the windows down for a few days straight and a bunch of wind blew leaves into the car #-o. So it could probably use a good vacuuming, but that's no big deal.

Overall, I think it's a pretty nice car, but I would start $6,500 for the car honestly. You would have to look at the car, give it a test drive and make an offer from there. I would not pay anymore than $8,000 for that car. That B-body car is really not worth too much money, but they will still pull a decent buck. If you are serious about buying the car, good luck and if you have any questions or concerns, we are here on FABO to help you with that. :D

It couldn't be "originally painted B5 blue" because that paint code didn't exist in 1967. It looks like 88-1 Bright Blue Poly, or possibly CC-1 Medium Blue Poly. Irregardless, it's a nice color, much better than the weathered white that's on it now.

That said, I don't believe modified, non-original cars will command the price an original, "desirable" version would. $10,500? No.

I like post #4 best so far.

I think it's a total POS cobbled together out of somebody's left overs so they can make a quick buck. Keep lookin.

Has a clutch pedal, yet has a column shifted automatic??? Seems sketchy to me.. like said someone swapped a motor home 440/727 into a 318 car and is trying to profit.. sadly though a half decent car like that would probably bring like said $8,500 or so up by me..

It's!!!!!! A!!!!!!!! Sweet!!!!!!!! Piece!!!!!!!!
