Installing a Harmonic Balancer with homemade installer
My harmonic balancer is a post 71 model going on a 67 273 so the timing marks changed. Below is my solution using my homemade installer. I marked TDC using my piston stop and am keeping the stock timing marker. I installed the summit racing timing tape per forum suggestion. As I have to pre-lube the system yet and it is a function of cam degrees I made a 360 degree template in my computer that is slightly smaller than the balancer. I decided to hone the hub a bit as it had been on and off the crank once already. I built a wooden key so my brake hone would not catch the keyway and honed the hub very slightly, just to clean. I installed the timing tape, the degree wheel and painted with clearcoat. Then I chased all the threads and cleaned with laquer thinner and installed it on the car. Below are the photos.
