my Low dollar 318 hop-up project
I think it's an awesome idea all the way around. I believe you will be surprised. Do you plan to track the car to see what it will do?
ABSOLUTELY !!!!! I will post my trip to the track, that will be the real fun! Progress is slow, I have a little time here and there to throw at it, but it's progress! The E.T. slip will give folks the realistic results.
The goal is still to run with a factory '73 340 duster auto 3.21 car, and they've been well documented to go very low 15's, and high 14's with better tires. In fact, a member here tested one brand new that his sister bought, and could not get past low 15's as from the factory. My goal is to get into the 14's, even a 14.95 will work for me.
For those that ask what they can do to their 318 2bbl to spunk it up, but have limited knowledge and even less money, I'm trying to give them at least one recipe of a 500 dollar budget build that would allow them to run with a factory '73 340 car, and many other muscle cars from '65-'74. Without changing gears! Or converters! No headers! I did say in the beginning, though, that dual exhaust is assumed for this build. I would think this would be very satisfactory for those people. That is why I used nothing I already had, but shopped and bought each item as if I were them. Keep'n it realistic.
So far a few doubt I will make my goal, and they may be right. But I love the challenge. Whether I make it or not (I'm confident I will :D), I'm having fun and hope somebody can use this thread (or something from it) to benefit their car.
