Small roots blower for smallblock

Pretty cool. These little things are sweet. I have a NOS B&M kit I haven't got around to yet. Ditch that 6 rib pulley Pos ASAP and go straight to 10 rib...if you can that is. Since no one ever made a 10 rib crank pulley for the SBM, I had one designed after the one in my kit, took months for my friend to machine it for me. LOL. I then bought a new blower snout 1" shorter, available through Weiand, again, those aren't cheap. The extra 4 ribs in the pulley was exactly 1" so I got lucky with that!
MoparDude318 has great info for using a 10 rib belt and pulley system. I would definitely recommend it for the 174 and would recommend it for 162 applications where high boost (8PSI) and high engine RPMs will be seen under racing conditions. However, on a mild build with a small 144 blower, the 6 rib will be fine. 10 rib conversions are expensive$$$$.
I run a 174, with a 2.75 blower pulley and a 6" crank pulley. I shift at 7,000RPMs , so the blower is seeing 14,700 RPMs, I was going to skip the 10 rib system and go to a Gilmer Drive, requiring a blow off valve on the intake manifold. Anything more than a 150 shot of N2O results in belt slip, I actually see zero boost, under heavy use of nitrous. The serpentine systems will let the belt slip if an engine backfire occurs thru the intake. So after that outburst, I got a feeling your system will work fine for the mild combination you have. Run the pulley you have, install a boost gauge, keep the total timing at 28° to start with. Less timing if you're seeing over 5PSI.
Best of luck on your build.
