I just detailed the engine compartment on my 1970 Swinger 340 and thought I would post a few pics.
I used a set of Mopar ignition wires that I had for years that were new in the Mopar bag, They are orange in color but they fit a little short...What are others using for stock looking wires?
THANKS

Im running the taylor cable wires on my 340. They got plenty of length but im trying to remember if they are cut to length or not. Heres the part no. 74071 they are available with three different angle boots at the spark plugs. im runnin the 180 degree boots at the spark plugs and straight at the distributor also come in different colors but im running black ones

'70 wires were black...orange was '72 or later if it matters.
i just bought a set of cut to length parts store black wires with orange spark plug boots

I'm wanting to do a similar "clean up" on my 273.
I've been putting it off thinking I would want to pull the motor out, but I'm assuming you didn't?
Did you just mask everything off very well?
How about those exhaust manifolds?
They also look great and can be an overlooked item.

I'd like a little more detail :happy1:

I also have a 1965 Barracuda with a 273....here is an engine detail shot of it.
I did not pull the motor I actually did this detail job in less then 4 hours.
first I cleaned the engine bay with carb cleaner and rags.
then I did mast off the hoses with masking tape as they are 20+ years old
I quickly sanded any areas that needed it.
I put old bath towels down and around the engine and used Mopar engine paint in spray cans (street Hemi orange)
I then polished any bolts with a wire wheel on a grinder
I used a 10+ year old can of exhaust manifold paint made by Eastwood and applied it with foam brushes.
I still will take some time to fine detail certain items as I am retired and enjoy the time I spend on the cars I own.

........273.........

Looks great !! Trying to do the same with my 80's decor engine bay( waaay too much chrome!! water pump, timing cover, damper ,valve covers ,dip stick and tube) I even had an authentic knife handle chrome dip stick handle, which caused the tube to break. thanks to the tips on here it was an easy removal

Nicely done! Don't forget a radiator cap and splurge for a Mopar battery. They will really make the difference.
