Lockup 904 transmission

This is a friends transmission that he bought for his 318 '75 Duster. I noticed this small black electrical plug and We're thinking this may be a lockup transmission. If so would it be ok to run it without the lockup hooked up? Could he wire in a toggle switch for the lockup and switch it on or off manually? Bob
