Is it a major PITA to replace the input seal on the steering box?
It looks like I may have room to do it without even removing the unit from the car.
Anything I need to be aware of? Thanks!

Mine is leaking a bit too. It doesn't look so easy with the unit in the car. I'm assuming that yours is power steering as well, correct?

there are two places for a possible leak on the input side of the box. one is the shaft seal and the other is the o ring on the housing cap. just got a master power kit to do both the input and output seals on my bee and will be doing this soon. already have the box removed but this can be done without removal of the gearbox

I did mine on the bench, so it wasn't bad. I cant say how good/bad it would go with the steering box in the car

Last time I had one leaking the caged needle bearing on the sector shaft needed to be replaced...

So it looks like a giant castle nut and hopefully a seal right there that I can see and get to. I think I can do it in the car- B-body without headers.
I've never pulled one of these things apart before so I don't want to get over my head with it.

i just went ahead and pulled the box, seems a lot easier than doing it from above and below. yea it looks like a big castle nut with the shaft seal in it mine is leaking around the diameter of it along with a slight leak on the output shaft.
