Muffler Question
My teener ran Dynomite with dual 3inchers,Dynomaxers, and TTIs.
It was a stock LC 73 with a smallport iron intake and TQ,904/3.55s. It was my winter motor for 4 years.
I also ran it with an O/D box and a GV,for double O/D.With 3.55s the rpm was 1588@65. With 2.76s;85 was 1614
Please don't argue that 3 inchers suck torque.That old teener cruised for hours at 1588, and pulled double-O/D to over 100 mph, and beyond.You just have to tune it.With a semi-auto VB, I loved to put it in too-high a gear, and let the TQ moan.
I will say that dual 3s are a tad noisy at full-song. Noisy but not aggravatingly so, and those muffs are quiet enough when not at Wot, and have no drone.With my 367 cuber they are a little louder at WOT.People say the sound is unique,and my car is the only one around with this particular sound, ( dual 3s will do that), and they can always tell it's me from a long distance away.So about 95% of the time, I behave myself.And when I get on it, it's gonna be for 3 to 5 seconds, or less;cuz you know,speed limits and stuff.
