I just got a call today from Redline Gauge Works (S. Cal) and they said my Plymouth tach was ready. I remembered your post and asked them. They said they rebuild all types of tachs. Typically they put in new innards so the tach will work with modern or original ignition systems. Other members have also recommended them.
