I'm having a heck of a time with room for a fan. Check out the pics. I got about 2.5" between the bolt heads on the water pump and the radiator. (looks like 3" in the pic, but it's the angle) The crank pulley extends about the same, but I plan on sourcing a 2 groove pulley, which hopefully gives me a bit more room.

Did anyone else with a BB swap have this issue? A conventional fan with clutch is pretty much out of the question (which is what I wanted). I ordered two spal 10" electric fans which I thought I could perhaps offset a little to clear things. It doesn't look doable.

I'm considering a flex fan, but really don't know how much they extend past the water pump face towards the radiator.

You can see the gap between the radiator and support. It about 1/2". Considering finding away to modify things to push the radiator forward that 1/2".

Ideas??

On a happier note, spend the last couple days installing the Hurst aromatic II shifter using a factor console. My car didn't have a console so had to make some brackets. It's SOLID.

More random progress from previously....Front suspension completely disassembled, sandblasted. All new Moog rubber bushings and ball joints. Tie rods were larger ones...from a fury i think. Picked that tip up from somewhere on here a while ago.

Brakes blasted, and rebuilt.

New Rotors and pads.

3" Summit Exhaust Kit with Summit Turbo mufflers
3" Universal X-Pipe Kit from Summit.

My collectors didn't point precisely straight back for some reason. My solution was to use these 3" ball flanges from Summit. I was going to set the angle where I wanted it and weld it....but it's pretty solid with the band, so I'll leave it like that for now. I had a ton of pipe left since the two kits weren't designed to go with each other.

Still need to do a little work adjusting and moving clamps around....tweak the hangers. I dislike this style of clamp, but it'll do for now.

Painted welds with some high temp paint.

Welded in 02 Bung for Wide band fuel/air sensor.

Sandblasted and painted the hanging straps/j-hooks....new felt stuff on top of the tank...
Used NOS Locking ring for sending unit

Painted it with self etching primer and some "aluminum" rustoleam I had laying around...wasn't convince I even needed to paint it, but figured whatever.

Scored Seats from a 2003 Mercedes CLK 430 for 100bucks for the pair. Small section of each seat bottom has about 1" with the stitching is coming undone. Wanted to make sure they'd work before I put any effort into repairing them.

Each seat is heated (not using) and has 5 electric motors....and a computer (not using) Picked em up on a crap shoot I could make it work. I've broken them down and figured out the wiring for each motor. Got some DPDT rocker switches that should do the trick.... Plan to fab up a mounting plate direction in from of the lower cushion, so you'd reach down between your legs to adjust.

The seat on the right is one of those summit sport seats that are like 160 each. They were atrocious quality...and didn't fit me in the least in the shoulders. Back they went.

The seats are super comfortable, mounted and look bitchin'....

Dragged it out into the daylight to inspect the body closer and check out the stance. Had the rear leaves de-arched .75" and the spring shop put .75" inch spacers on top of leaves for a 1.5" drop....combined with the 1" dropped spring hangers. I may raise the rear to the upper hanger hole....going to wait till I get all the interior and glass in and let it settle...see how it sits. Collector flange is 3.5" off the ground. Little concerned about that.

Also found some spots I'm not happy with on the bodywork....here we go. Again.

FINALLY got out for paint!!! It's going black....which will show any flaws in my body work, which I've spend hundreds of hours trying to get perfect. If it's not right, it won't be for lack of effort.

Looks great, i like the stance it has. Diggin the 69/72 look too.
Thanks!! New springs in the back de-arched 3/4", addition 3/4"drop from addition leafs (just center part) banded on by spring shop, plus drop spring hangers. Front is 1.03 torsion bars cranked down. May have to tweak things once it's all together and settles. I wanted a low lean look.

Are you still having issues with fan clearance? I got the same probs with an aluminum radiator, and a small block in my 67 cuda. Dual fans are not the solution, even running dual 10" spals. Ideally a single large fan and shroud is what you need

My solution is a hayden #2765 fan clutch for a 1990 jaguar XJ6 with inline 6. Rock auto $30 And an 18" fan blade assy designed for a fan clutch. Flexalite makes an 6 bladed fan #5718 for $37 through summit racing. Or a 19" diameter fan #5719" This will bolt to the jag fan clutch, and the jag fan clutch will fit your mopar water pump. The hayden fan clutch comes with a centering bushing to center up the jag fan clutch for a non jaguar application. This clutch is approx 3/4" shorter than the stock mopar application. Add a nice fan shroud and your done.

I can check my spacing from my pulley face to my radiator, and give you the dimension i have. But with a small block i may have a little more room to work with.

Hey Matt,
I ended up getting a Derale flex fan with a 1" spacer. It give me about 3/4" clearance. I'd be very interested in what your measurement are. Total depth from water pump pulley face to front of fan blades. While what I have will work, and I think cool adequately, I'd MUCH rather have a clutch fan setup. That derale flex fan was the ONLY fan I could find that would give dimensions online. It only extends forward of it's mounting face about 1/2"....so much of the fan blade is angled towards the engine, if that makes sense.

I did the measuring on this, pieces wise, and got the part numbers from another gent on here that actually did this setup. Going to order the parts from summit in a few weeks.

Cool. Keep me posted...I'm very interested in this setup.

Eh, well, I've seen your work...it's well thought out and meticulously executed...I figured that was another of your ingenious adaptations of off the shelf equipment.

I would of got discouraged looking at that much work, hat is off to you for trudging thru.
