RustyRatRod's Guide To Hot Rod Bliss
...bought back some memories from "back in the day". A drive thru my HS parking lot back then one would see a lot of late 60's-early 70's GM-Ford-Mopars. Chevrolet were very common. Standard fare....clapped out 307, "3/4 race cam", 850 Double Pumper, Blackjacks & Cherry Bombs, stock convertor, no shift kit and 2.9:1 gears. Lots of chrome, the "SS lines" with hose clamps. Bone stock ignition with big fat Accel wires and the infamous yellow coil. Spaghetti for wiring harness. Most of these guys thought that the "3/4 race cam" meant it had .750" lift. The bulk of these hot rods had a pet leg rear...and couldn't even spin a tire without cracking the adjusters down on the rear drums and riding the brake pedal. These guys didn't even know where Island Dragway was but yet knew they had high 9 second quarter mile cars.
