Story for you. Thirty years ago I got news my grandfather was in hospital and wouldn't make it through the night. It was 3pm. My daily was an old Valiant....I hammered this car up to the hospital 100 miles away at speeds regularly over 100mph. Slowed down for red lights, but didn't stop.

Years later I did the maths. I saved about fifteen minutes on the trip, but could have killed myself (and someone else).
