Crewchief, look at your last photo. The quality of it was good enough you can actually see the wider master spline almost center of the shaft on the steering box. Now you just have to match the coupler master spline to the shaft and you should be good.
I believe it shouldn't have gone onto the shaft that far if it wasn't lined up? It wouldn't start on the shaft at any point but the one its on. So, I don't know what's going on.
