I'm going to convert from column shift in my Duster to floor shift when I put the buckets in next week. I've been looking at the B&M star shifter and the tci fast gate

Any opinions on these? How about other stuff I might be over looking? I don't have Hurst money, and I don't have a console to work with.

The car is just a fun weekend car with a decent 318, it's not a purpose built track machine.

Edit: I'm not sure what a "flour shift" is but that's what my phone decided I'm doing.

If I did it over I would do either the stock shifter or a gated shifter.

Didn't like the ratchet shifters inability to get to reverse in emergency situations.

the cheetah shifter is the best. It's gated, the cable comes out the back, it's had provin durability.

I've never had a ratchet shifter. All of my floor mounted shifting experience has been with manual transmissions or the auto stick in my wife's 300. It seems people like ratchets, the star shifter has the option to ratchet or not.

I'd love a Hurst, but I can't justify it in a beater like my Duster.

Mine was like 200 bucks...

looks like 275 free shipping on ebay right now...

B&M Pro Ratchet. Simple and affordable. Also NHRA compliant since it has a reverse lockout.

I went with star shifter. Cheap. Reverse lockout. Chrome. Fit the bill in my mind. I haven't installed it yet.

My all time favorite is actually the old B&M Kwik Klik.....but it did not have the reverse lockout. They were super cool though.

All choices ,are good...Personally,I would also pop for the better heavy duty B & M "red cable" ,and follow the cable install instructions to a tee, especially with headers....

I should add, the star shifter is nice because it does detent OR ratchet. Wanna shift manual on the street? Detent. Looking to bang gears on the strip? Ratchet. But it does not work with reverse manual valve body setups. It was ideal for my daily driver where I might just cruise in drive, or slap down a gear or two and lay rubber.
