It seems to be a little rearward when I've seen them. The single lines up better. The single groove pulley ends up in the middle of the double groove - if you follow what I'm trying to say.

I've seen many people with them each way, but I strive to go for the best alignment I can to keep from side loading the belts...

We tried both alternators on ours, it aligned best with a single pulley...
