To use the 340 hp manifolds,do i have to use the 90 degree oil filter,or is the straight on work.I ask because I am looking at a set of exhaust manifolds and the guy says i have to get the 90 degree oil adapter.Does not smell that good to me.This is for my 360 build.

The manifolds dont smell good? That's weird. I am pretty sure they do require the 90* filter adapter if they are the early 340 manifolds.

The 71 and up 340 passenger's manifold is designed completely different from the pre-71 manifold. It has a much smaller exit hole (1 7/8") as opposed the older ones (2 1/4"). The older ones are more rare and more expensive than the newer ones.

I have used the '73 manifolds on a small block duster and never needed a adaptor

I have a 73 340 drivers side and a magnum passenger side. No adapter and use the larger size oil filter. It worked out well.

.......The 68-70 pass manifold exits to the rear on an angle right where the oil filter is.......the 71 up manifold exits straight down directly in the middle of the center 2 ports.........kim.....

Are you running the manifold pair/set that Treblig sells? If so can you post some pictures of the passenger side manifold that shows where the downpipe is relative to the transmission dipstick?

here are the early manifolds and yes you need the 90* adapter with them..

Yes, Treblig was a pleasure to do business with hes a straight forward guy and took the time to resource and research the proper exhaust manifolds to avoid the dreaded header headaches. I also had him weld up a drivers side elbow to get around the torsion bar. In the picture hopefully you can see the dip stick placement. I also shown the bigger oil filter on there as well. No need for a filter re-locator with the magnum passenger side exhaust.

Buying them for looks or performance?
There's like a 3 hp difference between 360/340 manifolds.

Here are some pics of the 71 and up 340 passenger's manifold. Looks like these can be used without the oil filter adapter as well. I have many of these as you can see. Been planning on advertising them but haven't had time?? I have a few more besides these.

you got any pics of the manifolds this guy is trying to sell you? the 340 pieces (like abodyjoe is showing in post 15) are (from what I know) quite rare and can be expensive.. can I ask you how much he wants for them?

I have one driver's side 60's 340 manifold but it's promised to member "rockramcharger". I haven't heard back from him in quite a few weeks but he has sent me a deposit on a set of 340/360 manifolds.:

no pics Mike but i have seen them there the 68-70 HP the hard to get he want 450,with the 340 oil adapter.

do it - then, like I said, go with a remote filter system if you don't want to use the 90. Your buddy is correct, will need one or the other with those manifolds.
