I am a little concerned with painting the doors and fenders off the car because it seems like a chip always happens on reassembly.

but on the flip side, if you paint these pieces on the car, there are places under the flange and between hinges that do not get paint, but that is how the factory did it

When I assembled the Road Runner, All the individual pieces were painted off the car. Just had to be Super careful on Assy. But that was a rotisserie car. The GTS is going to be a driver, and all the panels are in Hot Rod Black now, So if they get a little nick here or there , it's ok for now.
