Wonder what the signal comes from?
I think I've got it figured out. It reads the current through the primary winding of the magneto. Has to be. It's the same wire that the kill switch should be breaking.

So the tach has a low-impedance input as opposed to the high-impedance input of a normal tach that senses a voltage (12V).

I'll measure the resistance and see if I can figure out how to drive it.
