273 Supercharged...ITS HAPPENING PEOPLE!!
UPDATE!! The Dream is not dead! Its been a long year at the Machine shop/engine guy. We have been plugging along slowly and as of THIS Thursday I will have a short block to assemble. You know how when you touch one thing you affect something else. Well that is amplified when there are not a ton of aftermarket parts to just pluck off a shelf to throw in. Lets rundown where we are right now.
Block was sonic checked and bored in three steps out .088, Surprisingly the walls on my 273 Block were pretty thick. I cant remember the thickness off hand but he made the comment that the walls after the bore where thicker than some of the 408 magnum stuff he does. So with the stock stroke the CI will land roughly at 287CI or 4.7L
We had to have a set of JE Forged aluminum pistons built for this bore and then a custom set of total seal rings. They look sweet. Once i get everything home I will take some pictures.
Crank is the stock forged Mopar crank. It was gone over and balanced.
Scat I beam steel rods. They are proven to 700hp stayed with steel just for the cost.
We are selecting cam Thursday..will be a roller just not sure spec yet.
Also making a final decision on heads. Now that the bore is opened up a small amount we are thinking i could get a slightly larger valve. So if that is the case might be looking at getting a new set. Also will be selecting the rocker set up. Probably will stay with the shaft style and roller tip.
The plan as it stands right now is to yank the /6 and 904 and get the new motor trans (built 727) and rear (8.75)in the car, running and driving by next spring. So I will have a hella built low compression 287. But I can work on getting the turbo stuff together and attack that the following winter.
