Rapom's Rocket - just another Duster build thread
My last entry was "Slow methodical progress" and that theme continues. Since my job is full time June thru Oct, part time the rest of the year, progress had slowed way down since my last post in May. I've spent Nov so far putting a floor in the attic of my shop and getting 3 cars worth of parts organized up there. Next on the "to do list" is to get the ceiling at least insulated so I can keep some heat in the shop this winter.
But all that doesn't mean I haven't "done nuthin" to the car! I installed a vent line for the Command Center back to the fuel cell (1/4" rubber fuel hose). Redid the filler hose from the quarter panel to the fuel cell for the 3rd time (now I'm finally happy with it). Got the passenger front fender lip rolled to match the driver's side. 98% of the body work is done on the front clip and the driver's side rocker panel. I rethought the exhaust system layout and then built some hangers for the mufflers to position them in their new location. Bought a 3" X pipe kit from Summit but still need to get the engine/trans installed to finish putting it together.
Made a template for an aluminum panel to separate the interior from the trunk and another to cover the electrics where the rear seat was removed. Need to get those over to the metal shop so they can bend them up. Pretty much figured out the rear rim specs needed to get 295s centered in the rear wheel wells. Really want a least a 315 as I have plenty of room but the tire selection sucks in a wide 18. Could go 19 in the back I guess.... I bought a new sway bar link and remade the one I welded together backwards which put the grease fittings in inaccessible positions. Bought some new straight plug ends for the MSD plug wires I picked up at the Portland swap meet 2 years ago but haven't finished cutting the wires and crimping on the ends yet. The new layout should really clean up the look of the engine. Picked up a dome light off ebay and made a new wiring harness for it. I've got some other mods going but I'll hold off on those until I make more progress and get some pictures taken.
