Undecided on the side bars. I have the material for them and I have started on some templates to make my own hinges for them as well, but not sure if I'm going through with it. If I had to do it all over again there would be no roll bar at all. I just wanted a nice street rod to build and I got a good deal on this car. Unfortunately one of the PO's had already cut out all the sheet metal behind the seats through to the rear pan, installed a Chris Alston subframe from the torsion bar cross member back, and had the tubs about 90% installed. The car is so solid to me it was a shame to cut it up.... It's set up for Ladder bars and coil overs. I've got the rear end and bars ready to drop in and have this much done on the cage.
My plan was to finish up the frame, tubs, suspension, put in at least this much of the roll cage, assemble the interior and repaint the car. Have fun with it for a while as a street rod and then possibly sell it to someone who would like to have a decent start on a street/strip car. I like the drags but really not interested in doing it on a regular basis. It's just got a nice healthy 318 in it for now and if I do take it to the strip the cage will be legal and add some protection.
