I have been running Mystik JT8 diesel super heavy duty engine oil, it has plenty of zinc and phosphorus. Best diesel oil you can buy exceeds API CI4 spec Rotella T only meets CI4 spec.
best part is a 2 gal jug cost $33.00 makes it $4.00 a quart. Can't use it with cats, but who runs them anyway.

Won't be long and ALL the diesel oils will have reduced zinc. Rosella is already reduced, and th others WILL follow.


OP. You are better off buying an oil that is engineered with the right stuff for your application. Oil is not as simple as it looks, and there are plenty of junk cams and engines out there to prove it.
