Hello,

I have read other posts about fitment issues with TTI headers due to chassis variances. I would like to hear from people who have used 1.03" torsion bars with TTI step headers. My car is a 69 Swinger. I understand all cars differ and may need some tweaks. I have not had headers in yet so I can't gauge against my .870 bars for comparison. Should be a fun install, 4 speed car. Lol

Headers fit with my 1.14" t-bars. Very close. I removed t bars when installing the headers. Not hard and make install quicker and easier.

Thank you very kindly for your response. yes, I just removed my bars this morning for header install. I do not autocross I'm just looking for a great handling street car so I think the 1.03 bars will be good.

I had .99 for 10 years before. Drove it daily

I also have 1" bars in my car. But I'm pretty sure I would like 1.03 or 1.06" bars in my daily dart as well.
The rear springs are stiffer than the front currently.

I have a car with 1.14's and TTI headers, they touch in a couple of places. 1.03s you should have no problem.

Mine go in but it was the largest size that would, when I put the engine back in the car I'm going to change to short headers.

This is an opinion;
I wouldn't run any less than 1.03s in my 68 Barracuda, and they have plenty of room. I would have clearanced my TTI's if I had had to. No biggie; big hammer/little broom-handle...
I'm on stock biscuit mounts/73poly rear, with a Schumacher strap.
I found the .92 bars hopelessly inadequate for me, even with stiff shocks. Now I can get air and not bottom too badly.
Yeah I'm a little lowered, but not as far down as "Blu"

Thanks to you all for your replies, I ordered PST 1.03" bars with the 20 degree clocking this morning. I'm sure hoping it doesn't make car to rough. I should mention my rear springs are Cal Trac split leaf mono springs with 9 way adjustable shocks. Now for front shocks?.........

You should have ordered the Viking Shocks from PST at the same time....

Yes, I think I will order a set. Not sure if I will keep my 9 way adjustable rancho/Calvert rear shocks or get all 4 Viking shocks. My rears have about 1000 miles on them, would be a shame to replace.

Hello all, I have a few more questions before I make my final front end orders.

1. Shocks. Should I keep my Calvert/ranch 9 way adjustable rears or match to front? Will Billstein be sufficient or should I go with Viking?

2. I am ordering k frame and LCA reinforcement plates from Firm Feel. I am using moog rubber replacement bushings on LCA and offset bushings on uppers. Are adjustable strut rods like those from PST a worthwhile upgrade? All soft parts in my suspension are new and are rubber.

3. If pivot pins look good is there any need to replace?

4. Firm feel sector support kit, is there any benefit on a street car that will see twisty highways?

5. I am planning to buy the Hellwig 55906 tubular sway bar as I've read on other posts it is a decent lower cost bar. Is this true?

So far other than stock replacement ball joints, bushings, I have new cal trac split leaf mono springs, pst 1.03 t bars, flaming river fast ratio manual box. Brakes are stock rear and SSBC disc conversion on front using stock large drum spindles. I ordered kit with the large aluminum calipers.

Have I missed anything? I'm not looking to turn my car into a Porsche, I do want to maximize what I affordably can. Any comments concerns or questions are welcomed. This front suspension work is new to me.

And, thank you everyone in advance. I know it is a lot of questions.

I'm running the Hotchkis adjustable shocks and really like them, you might look into the Hotchkis non-adjustable A body shocks. They are valved for around a 1.03 to 1.06 TB, I believe.

I would also look into the QA1 adjustable strut rods, I'm running those and they are a nice part.

Since you are going to be removing the LCA to do the LCA plates, give them a real good look over and if something looks questionable, I'd just replace them while the arms are out. I used the Delrin bushing from Pete @ Bergmann Auto Craft and I'm happy with the results.

What size tires or wheels are you running or plan on running? There's a Hellwig front bar that allows for a bigger offset rim without running into issues with the swaybar hitting the rim, it's part # 55917.

Have you done subframe connectors yet, that alone makes a huge difference.

Don't know if you saw it but if you click in the purple field in my previous response, I responded to some of your questions.

I had not seen all of that info. Thank you very much!!

Do you get any of the squeaking noises from those delrin bushings? I assume you use greaseable pivot pins?

You are on track for the most part, I would add the PST adjustable struts while you have the front end apart.
If you have not purchased the SSBC brakes yet I would do factory disks instead. I personally like the factory 11.75" brakes over even 13" Mustang front brakes.

They are actually the 11.75 brakes with aluminum 4 piston calipers to save weight. I have already purchased them.

Nope, no squeaking and they don't have greasable pins, you just lube them up real good and press them in. Use this grease Energy Suspension 9-11104: Formula 5 Prelube 8 oz | JEGS
I believe Hotchkis is using and recommending this grease as well, since it stays in place and works well.
How is the road vibration or dampening with the delrin? Does it feel harsh through wheel or column? I completely understand building performance has trade offs with comfort, I just don't want something that transmits a great deal of road irregularities into driver or passengers.
