Software tools.

Hi Guys,

I was re-reading the discussion, "Example of what "driver" Barracudas are selling for"
and got to thinking after reading post #30.

A tool that we don't think much about is software. I used an app for my phone to find my car. I was looking for either a 71 Demon or a 68 Barracuda fastback. I also set it to look for specific parts for my car too after I got the car. After looking for a bit over a year all over the west coast, I found it. The app I used is Craigsnotifica version 2.76. Sorry, I don't know of a version 273. There are later versions of the app (Version 3.28), but I prefer the older one I linked because it displays the text of the ad instead of the pictures. You can click on the button that links you to the actual craigslist website ad.

Anyways, the app lets you search by city, so you can cover pretty much wherever you want. Configuring searches can be a little time consuming (configure your REGION prior to creating any searches). I configured the app to search the entire western united states, which is very powerful. It is similar to adhuntr.com. You can also set it to search every x many hours and notify you. so you can hop on an ad shortly after it gets posted.

Just a heads-up, if you set it to search a TON of areas (I don't know the cutoff number) make sure you do it when you are NOT on your home wireless network, as craigslist will block you from their site. They block by IP address. It's not a serious issue, as you can get a new IP lease if you have a dynamic IP when you reboot your router, but it can be a pain. Your phone acquires a new IP every time it switches cell towers.

You can run this android software on a Blackberry 10 device. I ran it on both a Q10 and a Passport. I also run it on my android tablet.
